This is the beginning of our journey. As most of the journeys, it has started with a lots of enthusiasm and a prolific emergence of ideas.
After one week of email exchanges and one meeting we were able to set up the basis for the production of an Art Event as it follows:
Theme: SPACE
We are interested in investigating how does SPACE shape our every day life, our relations and aspirations.
We have discussed how the signifiers such as “proprietor”, “tenant” or “homeless” are artificial divisions of the social space, which in many cases does
not respond to the individual inhabitance’s needs and rights. In that sense, we want to examine how the semantic of SPACE is intersected by the discourses of Politic and Law.
As SPACE is a requisite for the display of artistic work it will be relevant for us to find a site that coherently match up the curation of this particular artistic event. We are interested in challenging the conventions of a gallery exhibition as well as the display of the works. In that sense, our ambition is to find an “unused” or “abandoned” site or a “temporary space” offered by an organization.
We are interested in the curation of a diverse body of work from different artistic practitioners that it will not be restricted to photography.
The final destination of our journey is a venue, somewhere in London, by the beginning of May. By then, we will be in charge of a 3 days Art Event.
Finally, We would like to engage the audience in the debate around the theme. From now on, we would also like to receive contributions from the blog’s readers.
